The university aims to produce quality graduates in the field of Medical science and technology in order to become competence and excellence health professionals in providing medical analysis, medical laboratory services and to uphold professional ethics, values and standard. The graduates shall be motivated in pursuing professional development. This shall help eradicate the shortage of medical technologists and to meet the country’s needs and to promote quality and healthy lives of its population.

In December 16, 2008, Western University council had passed a resolution to establish the faculty of Medical technology and opened its first admission for Bachelor of Science in medical technology to 80 applicants for academic year 2009.

The university had applied for accreditation from the Medical technology council in 2009 and had appointed associate Professor Pranit Prawatmuang as its first faculty dean. However, in October 17, 2009, based on the Medical Technology council’s evaluation, the university had appointed associate professor Boonpayao Laohajinda who was the deputy dean of the faculty of medical technology of Chiang Mai University to replace the former in order to meet the council’s criteria.
